Willi J & Co & Rare Function – Boogie With Your Baby / Disco Function – 7″€12.99 (Deptford Northern Soul Club Records) – Two rare and mystery-shrouded party-in-the-house sides from 1976. Willi J Coe’s Cleethorpes anthem Boogie With Your Baby was a no-hit wonder that goes for around £100 if you can find a copy on the original short- lived Ki Ki label. Produced by Willie J Key and arranged by Bob Holmes (Joe Tex / Freddie North / Slim Harpo) it’s a slice of funky party disco. A proper floorshaker. Rare Function’s Disco Function was originally on Soul Unlimited in 1976 and fetches around £50 a copy these days. Sampled by Luke Vibert in more recent times, it’s a brass-stabbed party anthem with a nod to Kool And The Gang when they were funky.
Misfits – Walk Among Us – LP €27.99 (Earache) – A classic record with the highly coveted Earache catalogue number Mosh666. The inner bag features a new logo based design, differentiating it from previously released product. If the Misfits were one of the greatest punk bands then Walk Among Us is perhaps one of the greatest records in punk history.
Bobbie Gentry – The Delta Sweete – 2LP €26.99 / CD €15.99 (UMC) – The Delta Sweete is Bobbie Gentry’s most critically acclaimed album and has not been pressed in the UK or US since 1972. Uncut recently placed it 4th in their ‘Ultimate Genre Guide’ to the top 40 singer-songwriter albums of all time. This 2CD / 2LP release features the original album remixed and mastered from multi-tracks by Andrew Batt, and is supplemented by outtakes and demos, featuring two previously unleased tracks. The CD edition also features the original mono release of the album which has not appeared on CD before. Sleevenotes are supplied by Andrew, and are illustrated with unseen images from the Capitol archive.

Recorded at Channel One, Tuff Gong and Dynamic and engineered by Pablo, Soldgie, Steven Stanley and Tony Kelly One Step Dub included dubs to some big hitters from Jux including Hanging Tree and Riot In A Juvenile Prison.
Augustus Pablo – Rockers Comes East – LP €14.99 (Greensleeves) – With the release of Rockers Come East in 1987 Augustus Pablo continued to ‘mix up the vibes a little more’. Featuring digi-dubs to Junior Delagado’s hits Raggamuffin Year and Call Me, steppers like Sun Ray Dub and the deep and heavy Zion Seals Dub the album continued Pablo’s journey into a revolutionary new age. Recorded at HC&F, Creative Sound and Tuff Gong studios, engineered by Philip Smart and Michael Carroll, here’s another great longplayer re-issued with the Greensleeves seal of quality.

Various Artists – The Blue Coxsone Box Set – 7″BOXSET €94.99 (STUDIO ONE) – The label also had many iconic imprints, with one of the most sought-after being singles issued on the Coxsone imprint (named after Studio One founder and ‘father of reggae music’ Coxsone Dodd) with instantly recognizable blue labels. These singles have come to be known as ‘Blue Coxsone’ in collector’s circles and fetch tidy sums given their limited release and rarity. This limited edition box set features six rare singles all reproduced on the original Blue Coxsone label featuring essential tunes from Joe Higgs, Winston Jarrett, The Sound Dimension, The Melodians and other Studio One icons. Wailing Souls – Shark Attack (feat. Alborosie) – 7″ €7.99 (Greensleeves) – The Wailing Souls are major contributors of classic roots reggae hits in the VP / Greensleeves catalogue, and now they’re back with the new single Shark Attack. European reggae star Alborosie is featured on this re-make of the 1992 hit.
William Tyler – Music from First Cow – LP €20.99 – First Cow film by director Kelly Reichardt. William Tyler composed the music for First Cow, the new A24 film directed by Kelly Reichardt, almost entirely on several of his guitars and a dulcimer. Tyler was a member of Lambchop and Silver Jews before he became a solo artist. He has also played with Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Charlie Louvin, and Candi Staton.
Geld – Beyond The Floor – LP €16.99 (Static Shock) – Across 10 songs and a handful of instrumentals, Melbourne’s Geld demonstrate a concerted progression from their previous work; raging incendiary hardcore collides with nightmarish bad trip wanderings in a swirling maelstrom of tightly marshaled chaos. The fast parts are faster, the slow parts slower, the weird parts weirder. The vicious thrashing punk of songs like “Invader” and “Infra” come in at a little over a minute; a wild joyride reminiscent of the Japanese Burning Spirits bands alongside Cleveland’s infamous ‘90s hardcore scene.

Soulful vocals, suave raps and buoyant riffs are expertly infused with dope as fuck beats and booming basslines.
Disclosure – Ecstasy – 12″ €14.99 (Island) – Limited Blue Vinyl – Disclosure are back with brand new music. The EP’s title track Ecstasy is a song that came into existence early 2019 during a writing session at Guy’s house in London. They were curiously chopping up samples from various 70s disco and soul records when suddenly, Fantasy by Aquarium Dream gave them the exact thing they were searching for. This song is made entirely to get a human being to their feet and directly to the dance floor. Tondo samples the great Cameroonian musician Eko Roosevelt. If this track is anything, it’s fast, punchy and above all… fun.
THE NIX – UNTIL NOW ALL IS WELL – 7″ €9.99 (MOSHI MOSHI) – The Nix are a loose collection of uniquely talented musicians corralled together by Nick McCarthy (ex Franz Ferdinand) and Seb Kellig around their Sausage Studio in east London.
