It follows the band’s previous two studio albums – Ellipsis (2016) and Opposites (2013) – both of which went straight to number 1. The band’s approach to opus eight was simple. JAMES DEAN BRADFIELD – EVEN IN EXILE – LP €24.99 (MontyRay) – Ltd. Blue Vinyl – Second solo album by James Dean Bradfield from the Manic Street Preachers. An ultra-vivid eulogy to a brilliant life cut short, Even in Exile is a beautiful collection of songs that loosely trace to story of the life and death of Chilean poet-singer-activist Victor Jara. At points pure and biographical, at others dreamlike and opaque, Bradfield sets words written specifically for the album by poet / playwright Patrick Jones to some of the most addictive and affecting melodies he’s ever composed.
Roger Eno & Brian Eno – Luminous – LP €24.99 (Deutsche Grammophon) – Limited Yellow Vinyl – Following its release in March, the Eno brothers’ debut Deutsche Grammophon album, Mixing Colours, caught the imagination of critics and listeners alike with its eighteen meditations on the slow, shifting nature of sound and time. Walking In The Dark takes things up a notch further with jabbing percussion and mesmerising atmospherics, followed by Confusion, a masterclass in heady hypnotic composition. Human is a deeply affecting beatless segue with its drone-esque soundscape. True Romantics taps into your emotional centre utilising hard beats and wistful synth lines.
