MORRISSEY - Low In High School - LP €25.99, (Etienne/BMG)
Morrissey returns with his 11th solo album and his first studio album since 2014. It was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in France and in Rome at Ennio Morricone’s Forum Studios. The record is produced by Joe Chiccarelli (Frank Zappa, The Strokes, Beck and The White Stripes to name a few). Morrissey’s usual talent for combining political statements and great melodies is present as ever.
The LP is green vinyl and is housed in a gatefold sleeve and comes with a limited edition print.
THE DOORS - Strange Days - LP €18.99, 2xCD €15.99 (Elektra) The Doors’ ‘Strange Days’ is remastered in mono for its 50th anniversary. The LP was produced by the album’s original engineer Bruce Botnick from the original 1957 mono master tapes. The CD contains both the stereo and mono remasters. Accompanying the set are liner notes by music journalist David Fricke, as well as a selection of rare and previously unseen photographs. Includes the songs ‘People Are Strange’, ‘Love Me Two Times’ and ‘When The Music’s Over’.
ELASTICA - Elastica - LP €28.99 (Rough Trade) Re-issue of the debut number 1 album from Elastica. Originally released at the height of Britpop in 1995. The LP includes a fanzine flexi-disc of the song 'In The City'.
CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG - Rest - 2xLP €22.99 (Because Music) Produced by Ed Bangers’ SebastiAn (Frank Ocean, Kavinsky) and mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Lorde, David Bowie), the album features collaborations with Sir Paul McCartney, Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, Connan Mockasin and Owen Pallett. The album’s major production lynchpin would be French DJ, remixer and producer Sebastian Akchoté-Bozovic, aka SebastiAn, best known for his releases on French house label Ed Banger and for his production work for Frank Ocean. His background in electronic music accorded with Charlotte’s desire for a sound with a disquieting, mechanistic edge, inspired by Giorgio Moroder and, perhaps unsurprisingly for a revered, award-winning film actress, movie soundtracks. Double LP includes a CD of the album.
