BRUCE COCKBURN
– Breakfast in New Orleans Dinner in Timbuktu

2LP – Indies Exclusive Limited Edition 180g Blue Vinyl

Breakfast in New Orleans Dinner in Timbuktu is Bruce Cockburn’s 1999 album designed to encourage fans to look forward to the new century while learning from the past. It contains a travelogue in the lyrics of the album, both to familiar places of home and family as well as to social needs when visiting developing countries. Cockburn reflects the dynamics between men and women and the spiritual mysticism.

Musically, the album contains the vocals of three women who perform throughout the album. Jonell Mosser sings two songs, including the hit single Last Night of the World, Margo Timmins from Cowboy Junkies on the sultry Mango and a cover of the Fats Domino nugget Blueberry Hill, and especially for the consistency of the album, Lucinda Williams appears on four Tracks. Her standout track is Isn’t That What Friends Are For, a tender song of friendship made more poignant by Williams’ ability to convey deep emotions.

Twenty-two years after its original release, Breakfast in New Orleans Dinner in Timbuktu is finally available on vinyl. Originally part of the now sold-out 50th Anniversary 2020 limited edition, this album is now available individually to complete the collections of Bruce Cockburn fans.
